TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

The aftercare of your new tattoo will greatly determine the health and longevity of your tattoo after it is healed. This treatment is entirely your responsibility, not your artist.

TAKE IT OFF!

If you were given derm shield for the first stage of healing:

Remove the shield after 48 hours, up to 4 days depending on the size of your tattoo.

Peel from the bottom, as close to the skin as possible. This process doesn’t aggravate the skin as much as other methods.

If you were given a Dri-Lock Pad:

Remove pad after 2-4 hours.

WASH IT!

Use antibacterial soap (no artificial fragrance, no alcohol)

Tattoo Brand Soaps work, too!

Wash your hands first, silly!

Lather up some soap with tepid water and rub that new tattoo in small circles to get derm shield residue and excess blood/ink/plasma off.

Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

Repeat 2-3x per day for two weeks, then as needed until fully healed.

RUB IT DOWN!

Hydrate your tattoo so you don’t get yucky scabs that pull the ink right out of you!

Lotion, Tattoo Balm, Hustle Butter

Again, NO artificial fragrance or alcohol

NO A+D Ointment

DO NOT oversaturate your tattoo. That will pull the ink from your skin. The result will not be satisfactory, and your artist will be sad.

YOU SWOLE, BRO?

You may ice your tattoo, carefully, with clean paper towels over something cold.

NO SCAB PICKING!

You’ll pick the ink right out of yourself, homie. Plus, if you keep it hydrated well, you should encounter little to no scabbing.

NO SOAKING!

I know you want to hit the hot tub or a bath for Self Care Sunday, but if you can’t keep it out of the water, you can’t do it.
